DOLPHINFISH DAY

Headed wide of Sydney today in search of Dolphinfish around the FADs, Nathan punch out from Botany Bay after filling the tank with live baits, the sea was around 1.5metres so the trip was rather quick, Once at the spot live baits went over the side and we started our first drift and it wasn`t long before the first live bait was belted and a Dolphinfish scream off Sky wards before diving deep to battle it out, The next two hours past quick with lots of fish hooked, lost, boated and released and the odd one kept for the table as they are great tucker.

This is top fishing and Nathan knows his stuff out there as I tag along for the outing and had a ball, if you would like a day targeting Dolphinfish let us know as they only hang around until April so Easter time is prime time and I still have days free over this weekend. Kingies are also a great chance and fishing the bottom for Snapper and reef fish on this trip.

Botany Bay at its best

The bay is back to normal now after all the rain and this weekend the fishing proved it with good catch each day we were out on the water, Nathan headed off shore on Friday targeting Kingies and Dolphinfish and found good numbers, the boy had a top time boating plenty not a big in size but great fun on light tackle.
Botany bay the Kings have returned to most spots in the Bay, Live bait is the key most fish are around 60 to 70cms and we found one good fish about 80cms today.
Trevally and Bream have been rather good, Toby scored one Bream that was just under 40cms top fish mate, and I have found good numbers around Kurnell point and The Drums, Nathan also fished an afternoon trip and scored well on Kings and Trevally at Trevally Alley just on Dark Saturday afternoon again one King fish over 8ocms.
Today the surface was alive with big schools of Yellow tail but no action around them.

Photos from the weekend

Hooked into a good King on Plastics

Top weekend fishing Botany Bay

Saturday was the first day back on the water after all the rain and the water is still very dirty.
Anchored just off the Oil wharf on the turn of the tide and found Bream and trevally and lots of small Reddies.
The sticks are still fishing well you might have to move around a little, Bream and Trevally all on nippers on the anchor and spinning around the boat while targeting Bream, Soft plastics scored a few Flathead.
Sunday morning trip was part of the fishing school and we started at the drums, Trevally and Bream to start the day and the water is still dirty. Headed to the live bait grounds and loaded up fished Trevally Alley, Kurnell point and around the markers but no results as far as kings but boated a few more good trevally and three top Bream so the day ended with a nice catch of Bream, Trevally and a few Flathead.
I pulled back to the wharf and Nathan headed back out with the afternoon trip after a few quick tips on were I found a few, The trip started slow as there was no run in the water, few Trevally and Bream it seemed that the afternoon trip was proving a tough one.
Nathan headed to Trevally alley to give one last try after fishing Bare Island, Kurnell point, The third runway the drums and in the middle of the Bay, Still very little run, Two live baits over the side and both rods screamed along with Nathan Kings, First fish boated over 80cms and then a 7ocm followed by one under size and a 67cm and they dropped a good fish right at the boat that ate a soft plastic what a way to end a trip.
Nathan now runs all our afternoon trips now as well as the off shore trips and this is why he`s on board he know how to find fish the results of spending 25years fishing comps in and around Sydney.

Rain and more rain

Well I havn`t fished for just on two weeks dew to weather and the colour of the water this is the first real flush that Botany Bay has had in many years, Now that all is starting to clear up the fishing should be at its best the rain seems to fire all up, Let hope we have a little surface action over the next month or so, Bream should be good this weekend and Kingies will be worth targeting on the run up tide.
All the fresh should improve the spinning for Flathead with soft plastics, the rain moves them around in search of food. So the next three month should be great fishing as long as we can have the weather with us.

Wet weather great fishing

Charlie with a few more quality Bream caught about 5oometres from the sticks towards Towra point on Saturday.
Matt scored a 67cm Kingie on a Squidgie Flick Bait

Tina with nice Bream from the sticks

Just a little damp over the weekend but the fishing all week was rather good, Early in the week Kingies were in good numbers around Cape Banks and they provided great action for Matt and Tina this was there first shot at Kingies, Matt works in the fishing game at Explore Outdoors in Dubbo, Matt and Tina are both keen fresh water fisho`s so if you are in there area drop in and Matt will point you in the right direction for Cod and Goldern Perch in the area.
Bream are a standout at this time of the year, I have found good numbers around the sticks and all the way back to Towra point just anchor any were between these to spots and fish with Nippers, Blood Worms or Peeled Prawns. If you anchor and all is slow just move about 100metres and try again, Both tides working well.
Kingies have move away from Cape Banks on South change that came across on Friday, I fished it both Saturday and Sunday but no good, I had a few reports that the Kurnell side fish well over the weekend for Kingies, Sunday in the rain anchored at the Drums found three Kingies one took a live bait and the other two on Nippers, A few Trevally, 50cm Flathead and Bream all on the runout tide with the wind from the east.
The Oil wharf is fishing well for Bream and Trevally, Burley and fish the run out tide.
